So, guys, welcome back to my channel, Taurus Cashflow
0:03
So a lot of you probably know that Carl Broadbent, WP Eagle, and Phil have created their own theme
0:08
and I was able to get my hands on it. This video itself is going to be on whether or not the popcorn theme is better than avocado
0:16
Avocado. So let's get into it. Drifting in my heart, I know a fool
0:30
So since I started blogging last year, 2020, I purchased the Acovado theme by Income School
0:38
Back then, it was, I think, $99 for unlimited access. So I had to use it
0:43
Pretty much when I started blogging, they created their own theme. And the price of Acovado, I think, has gone up since then
0:49
But when I bought it was only $99, which is what popcorn theme is now, $99
0:53
And it's a one-time purchase, and you can use it for unlimited sites forever
0:57
So it's a pretty good deal. So if you want to try Aco Bado, I'm going to leave a link down in the description box below
1:02
And if you want to try the popcorn theme, I'm also going to leave a link in the description box below
1:06
The Popcorn Theme one will be an affiliate link. So I appreciate you if you use that link when you purchase it
1:11
The Aco Bado one is not an affiliate link because I couldn't find anywhere where you could become an affiliate for their theme
1:16
You can be an affiliate for Income Schools course, but for the theme itself, they don't offer that
1:24
It is what it is. So what do I like about the popcorn theme? So one of the things I like about this theme, the color editor when you're using the theme
1:31
I'm really used to Akabato's theme where you're changing the colors for the website
1:35
and you can't see the changes that you're making until you click preview
1:40
and then it'll load the website and you'll see exactly what it looks like. On the popcorn theme, it's not like that
1:45
The popcorn theme is when you change the color, it does it live
1:49
You're seeing exactly what you're doing as you're doing it. Also, with Akobato, I've had a lot of problems where I go to change a color of something
1:56
and I press preview and it's not working. And I've contacted them and told them about it
2:01
And they say it might be a caching issue, but I've cleared all my caching, and it still doesn't do that
2:05
So I can never get my website exactly the way I want it with Acapado, just because the colors never seem to do what they say they're going to do
2:11
But I didn't have that problem with the popcorn theme. Everything that I wanted to do with the theme so far
2:17
it's done it how I want it and how I imagine. Also, with the popcorn theme, this is with a lot of themes
2:22
but I really like all the sample pages that it comes with. So even if you don't have much content to add to your website from the beginning, it's super easy to customize the website and see what it's going to look like because they have all the sample pages already on the website
2:36
And also when you click on some of the sample pages, it'll tell you in the description to make sure to click on your dashboard and change this page to whatever it needs to be
2:45
So it seems like they really hold your hand on this for like if you're a super beginner, you don't know what you're doing
2:51
It really seems to walk you through how to build your website and make it
2:54
look like a pretty professional looking website editing your theme with popcorn is super simple all
3:00
you got to do is just go to your website and click customize and just work your way through all the
3:04
steps that it tells you to and just change each one to whatever makes you happy and you'll see it
3:10
all live as you're editing is really easy just work your way down the list and soon you'll have a
3:16
website that looks really good so the things you can change on this are the colors of the website
3:20
the topography so the text and everything can change the layout make that look a little different
3:24
You change the social links and a bunch of other things. You can change a lot with this theme
3:28
I really love how customizable this theme is. For somebody that has no coding experience
3:33
you can really customize this theme. Also what I like on this theme is when I added my logo
3:38
and my logo and my Fibicon, I only needed the one image and it seemed like it automatically
3:45
shrank it to the right size. On Agobato, I had to go to my photo editor
3:49
I used Gimp and I had to get an image that was 40 by 40 for the Fibicon
3:54
I had to do another image. that was 480 by 480 for the logo on this theme I had one image of my logo and it
4:02
seemed to automatically make it the right size for both the logo and the Fivacom so I
4:09
really liked that with that theme that it just automatically did that for me so no theme is perfect so a few things that I didn't like about the popcorn theme one of them was
4:17
for the hero image choosing the color on the hero image was a little bit different
4:21
than choosing the color for everything else instead of using just a plain hex number
4:24
It used something else called the RGB numbers. So I had to use a converter online to figure out my turning my RGB number into a hex number and vice versa to get it to work properly But after playing with it for a little bit I realized that I could move the slider at the bottom all the way to the right and then it seemed like a hex number would work
4:45
So I guess the hex number does work, but it was a little bit confusing, at least to me
4:50
I don't know if everybody's going to have this problem. But for me, it was a little confusing. Everything else used the hex number, which was just the copy and paste, and this one had
4:57
another little slider at the bottom that just confused me. Also, another thing with the header is it doesn't give you any recommended dimension that would make the header look good
5:08
So what I tried to use was my YouTube header and it actually looked pretty bad
5:12
So I ended up just going with a solid color, which looked okay. I was somewhere on the popcorn theme and this would apply anywhere where you're going to have to add your own image
5:20
So that could be with the logo too, it could be with the hero image, wherever the theme is saying to add a photo
5:27
Another one would be with the featured image. I think somewhere you need to say what the recommended dimensions are
5:35
And another thing going with photos is in some parts of the website, you'll see the full featured image
5:42
Other parts of the website, it'll shrink it down to just a square. And some parts of the website, it'll just cut off some of the edges
5:50
I think a cool thing to add would be some sort of template where we could see exactly which parts are going to be cut off
5:58
it would help us create featured images. I figured out that on the main page where it shows recently posted articles, it's a square
6:06
but on other parts of the website, it's like a rectangle. So what I'm doing for my featured images is I'm going to do whatever the most important stuff is in that square
6:16
and then the other parts of it will just be more like decorations
6:20
But what would be really cool is if you guys created some sort of template that we could download
6:24
and just help us create featured images like that. I created my own template with Canva that has a square in the middle and the rectangle
6:31
but if you provided that with the theme, I think that would be pretty valuable
6:36
Another thing, with Alcabato, I really like how it had an option to put your ytics code
6:40
It was super simple. All I did was, like I said, put the ytics code, and it checked my ytics for me
6:46
With this theme, you can't do that. With this theme, you have to download a separate plugin
6:50
I used Monster Insights for that. But doing that was really easy. I just downloaded the plugin, followed the setup process, and I was good to go
6:57
But I like to have as little amount of plugins as I can on my website. Because the more plugins you have, the more issues that could happen
7:03
and the slower your website gets. So just having that on the AcoBato theme is one of the things that I liked about it
7:08
But it's not a huge deal. I mean, it was really easy to install the Monster Insights and get that going
7:13
But that's one thing that I did like about Acovado over popcorn theme is just the fact that I could just put my ytics code and it was done
7:20
Just a quick rundown of exactly what I just went over for the pros and cons of using popcorn theme
7:25
So the pros, you can see the changes live as you customize. the theme. There's plenty of sample pages that helps you see exactly what your site might look like
7:32
once you add your own content. Editing the appearance of the website is super user-friendly, even for a beginner, and uploading your logo and your Fibicon crops automatically. The cons are the
7:40
hero image editor is different than any of the other color editors because it has that extra slider
7:46
which once you get used to it, it's fine, but at the beginning it was confused me. There's also no
7:50
recommended size for the header or any of the other images, and you need an extra plug-in for
7:56
your ytics. suggestions for the popcorn theme one of them is I only use YouTube for the social
8:02
medias I know a lot of other people might use Facebook Instagram etc myself I only
8:07
used YouTube so when I deleted all the other ones and I just had my YouTube link
8:11
it kind of looked a little weird just being all by itself so a suggestion that I
8:16
would be would be depending on how many links you have down there it would they would
8:20
increase in size so if you had 12 links then they would all be really small boxes
8:24
But if you deleted them and you had five or six, then they would get bigger
8:28
And if you only had one, like I have YouTube, then it would be even bigger. Because it just being a small little, a huge box and says, follow me or follow my channels
8:39
And then it's just a small little YouTube icon. In my opinion, it doesn't look that great
8:43
And if you could just increase the size as you delete other social medias, I think that would be a good feature
8:48
Another one is to add more font choices. I think there was only nine font choices when I created this video
8:53
The theme is new, so it's understanding. but yeah just adding more options couldn't be a bad thing another thing when you're
8:59
editing a post if you want to change the background or the text color of your post it seems
9:04
like there's only three options which are the theme colors of popcorn they also have a
9:08
customized option so if you have your hex code you can copy and paste it into the editor and you can have your custom theme colors my suggestion would be a way that you can save that so that in any future post that you have instead of just
9:23
having three options they could have whatever other color options that you save into the theme
9:28
that might already be a feature that i just can't find so if that is already a feature then my
9:32
suggestion would be to make it more obvious put it somewhere where it's easy to find because
9:36
i couldn't find it anywhere but yeah it'd be super useful and save a whole lot of time
9:40
if I could just save my theme colors into the theme, so I could just click it whenever I want to
9:47
you know, if I put a table in there, and I want it to be green, the color of my logo
9:51
then it would just be super fast and simple. So now let's do popcorn theme versus Acovado
9:56
So both popcorn theme and Acovado were both made by very well-known
10:01
affiliate marketers and YouTubers. Popcorn theme was made from Carb Broadbent, WP, Eagle, and Phil
10:06
mostly made as far as I know mostly made by Phil he's the programmer and he's he's really good at
10:12
what he does and w p. Eagle and carl broadband are both really good affiliate marketers so they put a lot
10:18
of input and suggestions into what they wanted the theme to look like so that it just ran really good
10:24
for us bloggers and affiliate marketers so it was really a team effort there Phil with the coding and
10:29
carl broadman and w.P. Eagle with the suggestions to make the theme look really good and their logo or
10:36
motto or whatever is a theme by affiliate marketers for affiliate marketers. So I think
10:42
Akabato is the same slogan. So by affiliate marketers for affiliate marketers. So both themes are
10:46
built by well-known affiliate marketers and the theme works really well for both people that
10:51
have been doing this for a long time like those guys or beginners. So either way, the theme's
10:57
going to be either theme's going to be good. I think the popcorn theme really shines with its
11:01
customization and hopefully they continue adding more options in the future like the few things
11:06
that I've suggested. I had no problems customizing the site the way that I wanted with this
11:09
theme. Okabato, on the other hand, like I said, I had a few problems and couldn't get the theme
11:14
exactly the way I wanted, the way I wanted it to look. It still looked pretty good with Alco Bado, but there was just a few issues that I had with that one. With Popcorn theme, you can
11:23
see everything live as you're editing it. I really like that, and it was just super easy
11:27
and I could get the theme how I wanted it to look. In my opinion, both themes are super beginner friendly. I think Acobato is slightly more beginner friendly. Everything that you do to
11:36
The website is done on the dashboard. You just go from the side of the page
11:40
You'll find Al-Gabato theme and you do customize. And you'll just follow everything step by step
11:46
And they really walk you through it with the Al-Qabato theme. With the popcorn theme, you have to go to your website and you have to click customize and everything
11:54
It's also pretty simple. It's set up a little bit differently when you customize it
11:58
As you figure things out, it's easier. I feel like Acovado is more, it's just slightly easier for somebody that doesn't know anything about anything
12:05
They're just getting started. But for anybody that's been doing this for a few months to a year, we'll be able to pick up on popcorn theme pretty easily
12:14
They're both really simple. I just think AcoBotto's slightly more beginner-friendly. And also, Acovado offers a lot of videos and tutorials within the WordPress dashboard
12:25
So you go to the Ago-Bato customization option. And at the bottom, it shows videos that you can click that will walk you through the whole theme
12:32
As far as I know, popcorn theme doesn't offer that. I know that WP Eagle and Corbrodman have been working on videos on their YouTube channel going over how to use the popcorn theme
12:41
So what they could do is incorporate it somewhere within their, within WordPress, just like Akabato did, to where you can see the videos
12:49
Maybe they'll do that in the future. But for now, you have to go to YouTube and try to find the videos that you need
12:53
Acovado, they offer it right there. So overall, I would say Alcovado is more of a beginner-friendly theme, but they're both a super beginner-friendly
13:01
Oh, another thing I forgot to mention is with the Aqabato theme, when you're up. uploading the logo, your hero image, and any other image. The same thing that I recommended for
13:08
popcorn theme. With Akobato theme, they do have a recommended size for both the logo
13:14
Vibon, and Hero theme. The only thing that they don't have a recommended image size for is
13:18
the featured image in post. So I would recommend that to both themes is to recommend what size
13:24
should I use for the featured image. So just a quick rundown of the comparison of the do. So the
13:28
popcorn theme was made by called Broadbent WP Eagle and Phil, and they have more customized options
13:33
They're beginner friendly and their tutorials are somewhere on YouTube. You'll have to find them
13:38
Alcabato is made by income school, less customizable options, slightly more beginner friendly
13:43
and they have embedded tutorials within the WordPress theme editor. So now let just take a quick look at the pricing of each of these themes When I bought Acobado over a year ago it was only for unlimited use It does seem like the price has gone up over time It actually now that I looked it up it actually over doubled in bright or not over it almost doubled in price
14:01
Now it's $179 for unlimited use with the Akabato theme. They also have a per year
14:06
subscription, so it would be $67 per year, but I really don't recommend that. It doesn't really
14:11
make sense after the second or third year. You're at a loss. You might as well just buy it and
14:15
own it and not have to worry about it anymore. How much does popcorn theme cost
14:19
Popcorn theme is the same price as Aco Bado was when I bought it a year ago, so $99
14:24
Unlimited sites forever. And you get any updates that the theme come with. And as far as I know, they're still working on more layout options
14:30
So over time, you'll have more and more options, and it'll eventually become a whole catalog of different ways that your website could look
14:39
Overall, I think that the value for your money is a lot more with the popcorn theme versus Acovado
14:44
I think Acovado used to be a really great deal, and they're increasing their price more and more. Or Income School has a larger audience, and so they're able to increase the price
14:52
WP Eagle and Phil are a little bit smaller YouTubers, and so, and they're also just getting into this theme
14:59
I'm sure over time that they're going to increase the price. So who knows, maybe a year from now, their theme's also $200
15:04
So it might be the best time to get into this deal, because last year I bought the Akabato theme
15:09
It was a really great deal. A year later, it's double the price. Same thing could happen with this theme
15:13
Right now, you can buy it $99, unlimited, and any updates that they come out with
15:18
you get those for free. So it's a really great time to purchase. So just quick rundown
15:23
Alcabato theme, $679 a year or $179 unlimited. Popcorn theme, $99 unlimited. So all in all
15:30
I think both popcorn theme and the Aquabato theme are really great choices. The main choice
15:34
really comes down to the pricing, like I said, and just the look of the website and which
15:39
one you think fits better for your website and what you're going for. Both themes are designed to be
15:43
super lightweight and they're super fast. I've received amazing page speed scores with both themes. So either
15:48
one of them are a really good choice. So if you want to buy the Aco Bato theme, like I said
15:52
it's going to be down the description box below. It won't be an affiliate link. And the popcorn theme, I'll also link below
15:57
And that one will be an affiliate link because they had an affiliate program that I could sign up for
16:00
So if you're going to buy a theme, you should definitely buy the popcorn theme with my link because I'll get an affiliate commission
16:06
But no, in all seriousness, either one of these things will be good. So you should just buy whichever one you think looks good
16:11
Popcorn theme is slightly cheaper and it actually does have more customizable options. Agabato is a little more beginner friendly
16:16
So if you're brand new to affiliate marketing, creating websites, if you never created a website before, then I think you should go with Acovado
16:23
It's slightly more expensive. You could buy the $67 one for one year
16:27
Maybe you don't know if you're going to be doing this a year from now
16:31
Maybe you're just trying this out. $67, you could get a great looking theme and try it out
16:35
If you like it, then you can later buy the more expensive one
16:40
Yeah, if you're a brand new person, you've never done this at all, then I would go Acovado
16:45
If you've been doing this for a few months or maybe a couple years and you're just looking for a really good theme that's a good price that looks good
16:52
It's fast then I would go with the popcorn theme so far I'm enjoying it actually more than Alcovado so I'm probably going to use this theme for any future websites
17:00
I'm not going to move any of my other websites over that already have the Alcovado theme because I still like the Alcovado theme
17:06
And I don't want to risk anything because I know if you try to change your theme, there's a chance that something can break
17:11
So I'm not going to switch any of my old sites over to the theme, but any sites, but any sites, that I build in the future, I think I'm going to use popcorn theme. I'm just enjoying it more
17:19
than Acovado so far. So that's my thoughts and opinions of the two themes. Let me know which one
17:24
that you like best. And if you like this video, be sure to leave a thumbs up. Subscribe if you haven't
17:28
yet. And I'll see you in the next video. Thanks. Bye. I wish somewhere on the Acaca, it used it
17:45
Adding the cons are the hero image color. What size should I use
18:01
They also have a per year purchase for unlimited sites, for unlimited
18:07
and you get any updates that the theme come was
