Google Trends is a useful tool that you can use to understand your audience within your niche
0:05
If you're trying to come up with a website, you can use this tool to see if there's actually
0:09
enough interest in the niche that you're looking to get into before you even get into it
0:14
to make sure it's worth doing. You can also see trending topics within your niche, which will
0:18
give you ideas for articles, YouTube videos, or even a potential product that you create yourself
0:25
and sell on your website. If you're not using Google Trends, you're missing out on a lot of
0:29
valuable information that you could use to get a leg up on your competitors
0:34
I always use Google Trends when I'm starting a new website to help me narrow down which
0:39
niche I want to get into. Miles Beckler created a similar video on this topic and he compared three different
0:45
similar niches. He compared vegan dog food, vegan cat food, and just vegan pet food in general
0:52
You would think the more broad topic would have more traffic than the niche down topics
0:57
like vegan dog food or vegan cat food. So going for the vegan pet food option would be a no-brainer, right
1:07
Wrong. But honestly, the data is kind of pointing to the fact that there is a lot
1:12
and I would say looking at the bar graph over here, there is over double, right
1:16
27 to 67 is over double the volume searches for vegan dog food than vegan cat food
1:23
Really impressive numbers to be able to get that kind of data. Vegan dog food, surprisingly, had a larger audience than both vegan pet food and vegan cat food
1:33
With this information, you know you get more traffic by creating a blog all about vegan dog food rather than branching out to all pet foods
1:42
Real quick, this video took a while to make. If you're enjoying it so far, please just take five seconds to tap the thumbs up button
1:49
It helps the channel out a lot, and I really appreciate it. Thanks and back to the video
1:52
So there's a lot of different settings and stuff that you can go through with. Google Trends and you really want to explore this because there's so much you can do
2:00
So first you can change your settings here so depending on which country you want to target
2:05
you could change your country. Though I usually just keep it at United States because those you get the best RPMs
2:11
You can come down here and you can see what's trending and you can go by year to see what's trending
2:16
Let's search something on here. Say something like skiing. A cool thing about this is you go back to the past five years and you can see one, you
2:26
you can see the trend if it's going up or down. And two, you can see if the niche you're trying to get into
2:31
is seasonal or not And according to this it definitely is seasonal which makes sense It going to be more popular during the warm season And the cool thing you can do is you can compare it with other topics So say you want to get into like bowling
2:45
And you can see bowling is much more popular all year around than skiing
2:50
So if you're trying to find a niche and you were comparing them, you would have a lot better chance of getting a lot of traffic with the bowling niche
2:55
If you did really want to get into skiing, then you'd want to try to find something that had highs during the summer
3:01
like maybe gardening. to kind of balance it out. So you see, this one has spikes during the summer
3:08
But it's interesting, even the lows of gardening is still higher than the highs of skiing
3:13
So overall, this would tell me that skiing probably isn't the best niche to get into
3:18
because it doesn't look like there's a whole lot of traffic. Plus, when I was looking at it, I think skiing was dying
3:24
Yeah, you see, the highs were way higher back then, and slowly and slowly
3:29
it's becoming less and less popular. So I guess people are just less interested in skiing
3:35
But another thing you could do is compare skiing with snowboarding. You'll see people are much more interested in snowboarding than skiing
3:43
So if you're going to create a niche website and create articles, then you would be better off creating articles about snowboarding
3:50
Still, it looks like this topic is also slowly dying. People are getting less and less interested in that
3:57
So again, that might not be a good topic to get into. And then another one that you could do that's pretty related is sledding and sledding is more popular than skiing but less popular than
4:08
Snowboarding. So this is a good way to use Google Trends. You can compare topics that are pretty closely related a little bit different and try to find the best one to get into that has the best
4:20
opportunity for getting a lot of traffic and making some money. The other setting that you can do is you can come down here and scroll down. You can see some related queries, see what's
4:30
breaking out like downhill skiing alpine skiing so these are things that you can look into
4:34
these could be subtopics on your website and you could really go down these and probably find a lot of
4:41
keywords then you come down here to related queries for snowboarding so you have the winter
4:46
Olympics Nike snowboarding boots so that could be an article snowboarding games go pro so you
4:51
could do like the best go pro for snowboarding snowboarding for skiing that could be a good one
4:55
and you can come down here and find some for sledding dog sledding that might be a
5:00
an interesting niche dog sledding. So then you could compare that dog sledding. So obviously it's
5:05
going to be a little bit less popular than sledding, but you can see the trends there. And then we
5:11
get rid of sledding and just compare dog sledding And it looks like it getting a little bit popular It looks like this one pretty steady So this could be an interesting niche to get into
5:22
Again, it has less traffic than sledding overall, so you might be better off creating a website around sledding and dog sledding
5:28
And dog sledding could be a subtopic. Then you can come here and find some related queries, dog sledding, brick and ridge
5:35
It looks like mostly people are looking for the best places to go dog sledding
5:39
So maybe you could recommend different places to people. and maybe there's some kind of lead gen thing that you could sound up for
5:45
I'm not really sure you'd have to look into it. Google Trends can help with your content creation and marketing
5:50
For example, Miles Beckler shows this really good example with three different types of diets
5:55
As you could have guessed, there's a huge spike of volume at the beginning of every year
6:00
the time where people are coming out with their new year's resolutions, saying that they want to get healthy, go on a diet
6:06
and the gyms are always slam-packed full. There's something that happens in the paleo world
6:10
happens in the paleo world, I bet it's New Year's. I bet the beginning of the new year's
6:14
January 1st, there it is, January 1st, January 1st, people say, hey, I'm going on a diet
6:20
I'm going to lose some weight. They know that the trendy diet is paleo, so the search volume
6:25
spikes around January and it dies off through the rest of the year. This information, you know that that is a great time to start posting content, whether
6:33
that be blog posts or YouTube videos, all around workout plans, dieting plans, supplements, or
6:40
even selling a course or some kind of product. This is just an example and these types of things
6:46
that you can find will really work for any niche. So here's a few examples I found that you can use Google Transforce
6:52
So say you have this search term for camera. You can scroll down here and for one, you can see
6:58
where this search term is most popular. You can kind of see where the most traffic is coming from
7:03
by state. Then you can see some related topics, floodlights, disposable products, film camera, body camera
7:10
So if you were trying to find a niche, say you saw this floodlight example, you could come here and compare it to a floodlight
7:16
And you can see that camera is way more popular than floodlight
7:21
So if you were trying to find a niche, then obviously you would want to stick to camera and not floodlight
7:26
Another thing you can see here is related queries. So you can see Best Camera Phone in 2021
7:33
So that's having a breakout there. So that might be a good topic to write for
7:37
360 camera booth, another one. So all these could be potential keywords
7:42
And if you wanted to, you could go ahead and change that, EuroWax camera
7:47
Start to turn and see what shows up for this. See it had a huge spike here in January It kind of dying out a little bit You can see where the traffic is coming from trying to get the best bang for your buck with ads and stuff like that You going to want to target mostly traffic from the US UK Canada places like that
8:04
This should be a good sign. Earwax removal kit. If you're going to create an article about this
8:08
include an earwax removal kit in there, some related topics here. Here's another example here
8:13
with videos and podcast. So if you're trying to figure out if you wanted to do a YouTube channel
8:20
or a podcast, you would be able to compare these two and see that creating videos are much more
8:26
popular right now than podcasts. You can also go back to the past five years and see how it's performed over the lifetime
8:34
and you can see that videos was going down a little bit
8:38
It had a spike here. I was returning back to normal. And you can see podcasts are slowly getting more and more popular
8:45
So that's a good sign that if you do have a YouTube channel, you might be wanting to think
8:49
about podcasts in the future, you could easily turn your YouTube videos into podcasts if it made sense
8:56
I'm sure podcasts are going to be getting more and more popular in the future. This is one way that Google Trends can help you just so you can see the trends as they're
9:04
happening and adjust your business accordingly. Here's another example here. I looked up the hobby topic
9:10
It gives you a list of things that are breaking out in the hobby. So you have Bowman, Football, Tops, Smoke and Mirrors, Skidis
9:18
And this is actually a word I never heard of, so I looked it up. And apparently it's like a pegboard thing that you use, I guess, as shelves and stuff
9:26
So this is something I've never thought of, but this would actually be an interesting, maybe a micro niche
9:32
something I never would have thought of if I didn't use Google Trends. This one here is the pet topic
9:37
You can see different things that people are searching in, like desk pets
9:41
So that'd be interesting. A website all about desk pets. So that would be like guinea pigs, hamsters, maybe fish
9:48
So that would actually be an interesting topic. I'm actually going to go ahead and put that in here. DeskPet
9:53
Let's look it over the past five years. It's actually starting to gain some traction here, getting more popular, but from 2004
10:01
So you see it's having a huge spike. So this is a good sign that DeskPet might actually be a pretty good niche to get into
10:08
I used Google Trends when I came up with my main website. There was a few different topics that I wanted to get into
10:14
It helped narrow down my search based on the search volume. And as you see in my last income report, two years later of building that website and it's getting over 60,000 page views and over $1,400 in revenue
10:28
Check that out if you haven't yet and you can see what I'm talking about. Thanks for watching and liking the video
10:32
I'll see you in the next one
